Hello neighbour
First time I am writing to you
Expressing my apologies for my past transgressions
Sending you these long overdue hearts of gratitude

I used to wish you understood me as well as you do now
But you never made the required leap
I have never physically left your side
You have always been so harshly distant emotionally

I always prayed that you could fix my broken self
You could sympathise with whatever I had to say
Instead of just dismissing my deepest fears and regrets
Tearing me further down piece by piece

I know I have treated you with hostility for a while now
I have always selfishly stopped you from progressing
Sometimes I cannot save myself from my irrationalities
In those times my brutal judgements are all I have

But if you ever heard me closely in our endless struggles
You could see how merrily you are taking my troubles away
I am enormously grateful for the ways you nurture our love
It would become fairly obvious in this eternal noise

When you finally stood up for what was necessary
You pushed me to learn the vital art of forgiveness
Now I admire your wonderful strengths with all adoration
And not glorify the smallest crack in your structure

With all the care you have sent my way
All the love you have nourished and healed me with
Now I gift you the compassion you need so desperately
Revitalising you with the new flowers in my garden

So with immense pride we are growing up together
Propelling each other into the path of freedom
Freedom from our past heartaches and woes
Being reborn in this new world of self love
